The liver is a blood filter. It is as simple and as complicated as that. The problem that we horse lovers have is that our horse's liver is coming under increasingly more stress all the time. Every vaccination, medication, dewormer or synthetic analgesic, such as phenylbutazone (bute), that we give to our horse puts a great deal of stress on the liver's function as a blood filter. If the liver is taxed, the entire horse does not feel well. It makes sense when you consider that the whole horse is now receiving blood that is considered toxic.

Recommended protocol for deworming: Start Dosage 2 days before deworming and give the herbs 2X a day in the recommended dosage for your horse’s weight and continue herbs for 3 days after deworming. Keep the herbal administration 2 hours before or 2 hours after the actual deworming product.
Recommended Vaccination Protocol: It is highly suggested to work with your vet and try to get any 'multiple' vaccinations changed to 'singles' and then space these one at a time at 4 to 6 week intervals.
It is strongly suggested that you not vaccinate a sick horse.
